Ambulance Response Times have Risen Dramatically over the Past Decade.
How long does it take for an ambulance to arrive in your neighborhood?
Austin's Plan to Reduce
Ambulance Response Times
Ambulance times have risen dramatically this past decade and continue to increase under Mayor Bass. The national standard is for an ambulance to arrive in under 5 minutes for almost all medical emergencies. In LA, the median response time is approaching 8 minutes. This has real life consequences for incidents like heart attacks, where every second matters.
As many as 20% of ambulance calls LAFD responds to are not true medical emergencies. We can still treat callers with care and compassion but LAFD does not need to send an ambulance. This will reduce demands on firefighters and paramedics and allow them to get to your home faster.
